Interplay Holiday Jam Session, bring your festive holiday tunes as well as your favorite jazz tunes and tasty things to share!

It’s this Wednesday, December 15th, at 6:30 at the Briggs Opera House, 5 South Main St, White River Junction VT 05001.
There is an elevator to the second floor. Find it at the southernmost corner of the building.
We ask that everyone be vaccinated twice. Please wear masks, but musicians don’t have to wear masks while they’re playing.
If you’d like to bring a snack to share, please bring something that can be scooped out of a bowl into a cup with a spoon. Please bring plastic cups and spoons. Examples: M&M’s; crackers, whatever. Finger food, not so good.
As usual, attendance at these monthly Interplay Jazz Jam Sessions is free and open to everyone. Audience members are encouraged to attend and enjoy!
Interplay’s jam sessions are a social gathering and a communal practice session. All instrumentalists and singers, please bring 6-8 copies of the sheet music of the songs you want to play with the group.
Starting at 6:30 PM, we encourage instrumentalists to participate in free flow tunes to develop new material (music) and play together. Continuing at 7:30, singers are encouraged to join in. Bring well-known jazz standards, popular songs or an original tune in your key to play with the instrumentalists, creating arrangements and improvisation in real time! Jam session ends at 9:30 PM.
People often ask, “What is a jam session?” A jam session is a relatively informal musical event at which musicians, typically instrumentalists, play improvised solos and vamp on tunes, songs and chord progressions. To “jam” is to improvise music without extensive preparation or predefined arrangements, except for when the group is playing well- known jazz standards or covers of existing popular songs.
