Unlock the mysteries of improvisation and build your jazz repertoire in this powerful and inspiring weeklong workshop. Interplay’s award-winning faculty mentors will support you in mastering techniques and overcoming challenges in daily master classes.
Study with world-class jazz vocal instructors who will guide you in building repertoire, finding your keys and telling a real story with lyrics. Learn proper breath control to support good tone production and intonation. A daily master class with different professional accompanists will give you many opportunities to work on developing your phrasing, melodic and rhythmic improvisation and to learn how to communicate tempo, feeling and form so that you’ll be feel supported and prepared for your performances.

Come play with us this summer and learn more about the wonderful world of jazz! You’ll listen to and learn from Interplay’s award-winning faculty in master classes and combo rehearsal, and you could play in a big band. Start each day listening to and being inspired by Interplay faculty, then move into a day of learning technique, ear training and playing music. Rehearse and play in a combo each day, as you build your jazz repertoire and performance skills in preparation for your two Interplay performances.

Swing Band offers instruction in scripted jazz ensemble performance and welcomes both instrumentalists and vocalists. We need trumpet players, saxophonists, trombonists, as well as rhythm section players. Prerequisite: experience in reading music.
